When and where is The Walk to End HIV?

The 30th Annual Walk to End HIV is on Saturday, September 28th. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with the Opening Ceremony beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Walk itself begins at 10:00 a.m. The event takes place at Woldenberg Park, rain or shine!

How long is the Walk?

The route is 2 miles. Check out the Walk Route page for more information.

Is the Walk accessible to all?

Yes, the route is flat and completely accessible to strollers and wheelchairs.

Can I bring my kids?

Definitely! Fun hands-on activities will provide children with lasting memories. Stop by the Kids Tent to join in on the excitement before and after the Walk, including Drag Queen Story Time.

Is there an age limit?

Though we encourage all ages to attend, adult supervision (parent, guardian, school administration, etc.) is required for anyone under the age of 17.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Dogs are allowed at the Walk, however they MUST be kept on a leash at all times. Please remember, it is September in South Louisiana and it is hot. Make sure your pets stay cool and hydrated if you choose to have them attend with you.

Where can I park the day of the event?

There are plenty of parking spots throughout the Marigny/ Bywater neighborhoods as well as a free parking lot on N. Peters Street at Mandeville Street. We also encourage our Walk participants to take public transportation, bike, and utilize ride sharing to get to the event.

What should I bring with me the day of the Walk?

Wear comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and weather appropriate clothing. Bring any donations you would like to turn in as well.

Is there somewhere I can leave my belongings while I am walking?

No. Please do not leave any personal belongings unattended.

We encourage you to register for the Walk. Registration is easy and can be done HERE. You may also register on Walk day using this Registration Form. Please arrive with enough time to register prior to the 10 AM start time.

Where does the money raised go?

All money raised from the Walk to End HIV stays in New Orleans and goes toward HIV/AIDS services through CrescentCare and other HIV/AIDS service organizations. Click here for more information on CrescentCare.

To whom should the donations be made out?

Please make all checks out to NO/AIDS Task Force.

When do I need to turn in my donations?

Donations need to be submitted prior to the start of the walk (September 28th, 2019, 10 am).

Can I mail in a donation?

Yes! Donations can be mailed to CrescentCare c/o WALK Committee, 2601 Tulane Ave, Ste 500, New Orleans, LA 70119. Please clearly indicate the name of the participant you are sponsoring on the check. Otherwise, your gift will be credited as a general event gift. To be counted for awards, it must be received no later than 4pm on Thursday, September 27th. Please DO NOT mail cash.

Is there a participation fee?

We do not require participants to raise a minimum amount of money. However we encourage everyone to set a fundraising goal (of at least $20) and do their best to achieve it. Fundraising participants are eligible for several awards. There will be suggested donation of $10 at the gate, however please come out and support the cause even if you can't donate.
